A performance about transformation and new beginnings
Singing bones
What happens when the skin decays
The tendons detach
The muscles dissolve
And everything decays
Until nothing remains
Except your own bones.
What if then
Rising from the depths
The bone woman awakens
The bone marrow glows
Your own bones sing
The muscles reawaken
The tendons stretch
The skin renews itself
And we dance and fly again
freely adapted from the fairy tale of the Bone Woman by Clarissa Pinkola Estés
with Yolenn Julie Richter & Polina Borissova
Yolenn is a midwife, dancer and bodyworker
Polina - singer, musician and actress.
Both work as clowns in hospitals, retirement homes and refugee centres.
As a midwife, experiencing how a woman gives birth to her dead child,
and at the same time welcomes it with love and bids it farewell.
Singing as a clown for a dying child.
As a clown playing with children in war ruins.
There are no words for that.
Such experiences are the driving force behind her performance - the timeless dance with the tyre, animated by song and live music.
The Skeleton Woman performance is a profound artistic exploration of the themes of death, transformation and new beginnings. By embodying this story through dance, voice and sound, both artists create a space where the magic of constant change becomes visible and tangible. Unique, touching and literally getting under your skin.
